ACA TY24: MEWA E-Filing Reminder

In 2024, many smaller employers belong to Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangements [MEWAs] were caught off guard when the IRS mandated electronic filing for virtually all ACA forms, even for employers with fewer than 10 employees.

The norm for these smaller non-ALE employers had previously been able to make paper submissions, since obtaining and managing the necessary IRS Transmitter Control Code [TCC] for filing via the IRSAIR system is complex and time-consuming.

BENEFITSCAPE PROVIDES A SIMPLE SOLUTION
BENEFITSCAPE provides an IRS e-filing service for MEWA employers, using our own certified TCC. Late filing can incur punitive penalties [see here], so we recommend you contact BENEFITSCAPE if you have any uncertainties about your ACA requirements.

The FORM 1095 distribution and filing deadlines for MEWAs are listed below; and a guide to ACA Reporting Requirements for MEWAs can be downloaded here.

FORMS 1095 Distribution to employees: March 3, 2025

FORMS 1095 e-filing to the IRS: March 31, 2025

Whatever support you need with your ACA Compliance & Reporting, from rapid data troubleshooting to final e-filing, please contact BENEFITSCAPE. We adapt. We own it. We get the job done.
